What this trial studies
This project aims to improve education and support for family caregivers of persons living with dementia (PLWD) through an online workshop called Building Better Caregivers. The workshop lasts six weeks and focuses on teaching caregivers essential skills for managing difficult emotions and stress associated with caregiving. Participants will engage in small group sessions, receive support from trained facilitators, and utilize a workbook for self-paced learning. The study will evaluate the feasibility of this intervention and its impact on caregiver depressive symptoms and healthcare utilization for PLWD.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are family caregivers aged 18 and older who provide care to a person living with dementia and have access to the internet.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those unable to commit the time required for the workshop or those deemed unsafe for participation by the investigator.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the well-being of family caregivers, leading to better care for both caregivers and persons living with dementia.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar online interventions for caregiver support, indicating a promising approach.
