What this trial studies

This observational study aims to develop the TAS Test, an innovative online motor-cognitive assessment designed to detect preclinical Alzheimer's disease (pre-AD) up to 10 years before cognitive symptoms manifest. By utilizing hand-movement tests and computer vision technology, participants can self-administer the test from home, making it a scalable solution for early detection. The study will involve two sub-studies: one cross-sectional with 500 participants over 50 years old and a prospective cohort study with 10,000 adults, integrating cognitive data and blood biomarkers to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 50 years old who have normal cognitive function.

Not a fit: Patients with an established diagnosis of dementia will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enable earlier interventions for Alzheimer's disease, potentially slowing its progression and improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using innovative cognitive assessments for early detection of Alzheimer's, but this specific approach is novel.
