What this trial studies

This randomized controlled trial will recruit at least 200 adults aged 35–60 employed in sedentary occupations in Croatia and assign them to an experimental or control group. The experimental group will complete an eight-week online logotherapy-based education program with weekly 30-minute sessions and short discussions, while the control group continues usual routines. Outcomes including physical activity, sedentary behavior, health-related quality of life, self-efficacy, meaning in life, and exercise motivation will be measured with validated questionnaires at baseline and after the intervention. The intervention combines logotherapy and existential analysis with established behavior-change models to promote meaning-centered motivation for sustained activity.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults 35–60 years old who have worked in a sedentary occupation for at least two years, are in the precontemplation or contemplation stage about becoming more active, can participate in online sessions, and can complete questionnaires in Croatian.

Not a fit: People with severe chronic diseases or medical conditions that significantly limit mobility, those already enrolled in structured physical activity programs, or those unable to use online platforms are unlikely to benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help sedentary employees move more, sit less, and improve aspects of their health-related quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Traditional behavior-change programs have shown benefits for physical activity, but online interventions specifically centered on logotherapy are novel and have limited prior evidence.
