What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of an online training program in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use among residents of rural areas in Camp de Tarragona. It employs a quasi-experimental design with two phases: the first phase assesses knowledge gained from the online training, while the second phase evaluates practical skills through face-to-face simulations. The goal is to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by equipping community members with essential life-saving skills.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are residents over 18 years old living in the rural areas of Priorat and Baix Camp Nord who have internet access and are interested in participating.
Not a fit: Patients with disabilities that prevent them from performing CPR or AED techniques, or those facing language barriers, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly increase the survival rates of individuals experiencing cardiac arrest in rural areas.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that community-based CPR training can effectively improve knowledge and skills, suggesting this approach may also be successful.
