Observing the relationship between interstitial lung disease and obstructive sleep apnea
Study on the Clinical Characteristics of Interstitial Lung Disease and Obstructive Sleep Apnea

What this trial studies
This observational study collects clinical data from patients diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It involves the collection of bronchoscopic specimens and utilizes rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) alongside metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) to explore the biological characteristics and causes of exacerbations in these patients. Additionally, all participants will undergo polysomnography and drug-induced sleep endoscopy to assess their conditions further. The study aims to identify specific biomarkers that can differentiate between various patient groups.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 80 with a clinical diagnosis of interstitial lung disease or obstructive sleep apnea.
Not a fit: Patients with malignant tumors, severe heart failure, uremia, autoimmune diseases, pulmonary embolism, end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or those unable to provide informed consent due to mental illness may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic methods and treatment strategies for patients suffering from both ILD and OSA.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of ILD and OSA in this context may be novel, similar studies exploring the relationship between respiratory conditions and sleep disorders have shown promising results.
