What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on children diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) at Rady Children's Hospital. Participants will have their medical information, including symptoms, endoscopy results, and lab findings, collected and entered into a database during routine visits. Blood and biopsy samples will be taken for analysis of inflammatory markers and to create a repository for future studies on disease progression and therapeutic responses. The study aims to enhance understanding of EoE's natural history and the relationship between clinical symptoms and molecular changes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis who experience symptoms like dysphagia, vomiting, or abdominal pain.

Not a fit: Patients without a diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis or those not exhibiting relevant symptoms may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of eosinophilic esophagitis in children.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding eosinophilic esophagitis through similar observational approaches, but this specific study adds a novel focus on inflammatory markers.
