What this trial studies

This study aims to observe patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in Hong Kong to assess its impact on cardiovascular risk and cognitive function. It will involve a prospective observational approach, tracking the health outcomes of participants over time. The study seeks to fill the gap in long-term follow-up data regarding the incidence of cardiovascular disease and quality of life in OSAS patients. Participants will be monitored for their compliance with therapy and overall health status.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and above who are suspected of having obstructive sleep apnea and can communicate in Chinese or English.

Not a fit: Patients who have already received treatment for sleep apnea or have serious unrelated health conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the long-term health risks associated with obstructive sleep apnea, potentially leading to improved management strategies for patients.
