Observational study on neonatal seizures

A Multi-Centre Epidemiology Study on Neonatal Seizure in China

Children's Hospital of Fudan University · NCT02552511

What this trial studies

This observational cohort study aims to determine the incidence of new-onset or newly-diagnosed seizures in neonates. Researchers will utilize electroencephalography (EEG) to monitor brain electrical activity and diagnose seizures. In addition to EEG data, the study will collect demographic and medical history information to identify high-risk factors associated with neonatal seizures. The research will focus on newborns diagnosed with seizures within the first 28 days of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are newborns aged 0 to 28 days who have been clinically diagnosed with seizures.

Not a fit: Patients whose parents do not consent to participate in the study may not receive any benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of neonatal seizures and improve early diagnosis and management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on neonatal seizures, this specific observational approach focusing on high-risk factors is relatively novel.
