Observational study on kidney transplant rejection predictors in Scotland
KTRSensor Scotland Study: Investigating the Role of Biomarkers in Kidney Transplant Outcomes
University of Edinburgh · NCT06830473
This study looks at kidney transplant patients in Scotland to see if certain markers in their urine can help predict if their new kidney might be rejected.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to capture real-world data from kidney transplant patients in Scotland to identify clinical biomarkers in urine that may predict early graft rejection. By following patients during their routine post-operative follow-up appointments, the study seeks to improve understanding of kidney transplant outcomes. The primary focus is on assessing the presence of specific biomarkers that could indicate the likelihood of transplant rejection, thereby enhancing patient management and care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients who have undergone a kidney transplant at a Scottish transplant center and are attending routine follow-up appointments.
Not a fit: Patients who have not previously undergone a kidney transplant or those attending follow-up at peripheral sites may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved monitoring and management of kidney transplant patients, potentially reducing the incidence of graft rejection.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using biomarkers to predict transplant rejection is established, this specific observational study may provide novel insights into real-world applications and outcomes.
