What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a nutritional intervention on patients with chronic heart failure. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group or an intervention group that receives personalized dietary optimization, specific recommendations, and nutritional supplements if necessary. The study aims to determine how these nutritional strategies affect morbidity and mortality rates in this patient population. It is a multicenter trial conducted across various hospitals in Spain.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 65 years old with chronic heart failure and malnutrition as indicated by a low MNA-SF score.
Not a fit: Patients who have been hospitalized for heart failure in the last month or have chronic renal failure on dialysis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve health outcomes and quality of life for patients with chronic heart failure and malnutrition.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with nutritional interventions in heart failure patients, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
