What this trial studies

This mixed-methods project implements OncoMoveNurse, a person-centered physical activity program led by nurses, in an outpatient oncology day clinic. Over 15 months the team will run implementation and evaluation phases and collect quantitative data from about 50 patients (June–September 2025) using validated patient-reported outcome measures with physical activity behavior as the primary outcome. Qualitative insights will be gathered via digital storytelling with two patients and two nurses plus a focus group of eight interprofessional team members to explore experiences and implementation barriers. The program is built around five components — a modular exercise catalogue, a safety protocol, a communication strategy, team orientation, and person-centeredness — aiming to integrate more activity into routine care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (≥18) with a cancer diagnosis who receive at least three outpatient treatments at the Münsterlingen oncology day clinic and have sufficient German language skills are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant (excluded), medically unable to be active, severely frail, unable to attend the Münsterlingen clinic for required visits, or who do not speak sufficient German may not receive benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, it could help patients maintain or increase activity during treatment, potentially reducing fatigue and improving overall well-being.

How similar studies have performed: Exercise interventions have demonstrated benefits for people with cancer, but nurse-led outpatient implementation programs like OncoMoveNurse are less extensively tested.
