What this trial studies
This interventional study evaluates the diagnostic safety of a specialized nursing pathway for managing patients with non-traumatic chest pain in the emergency department. It involves training emergency department nurses to triage and treat these patients effectively, comparing their performance against standard medical care. The study will enroll 182 patients, dividing them into an experimental group managed by trained nurses and a control group receiving usual medical care. The goal is to determine if this nursing approach can improve patient outcomes in chest pain management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults admitted to the emergency department for non-traumatic chest pain.
Not a fit: Patients with suspected intoxication, neurological signs, or those requiring immediate medical intervention may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to faster and more effective management of chest pain in emergency settings.
How similar studies have performed: While similar nursing pathways have been explored, this specific approach to chest pain management is novel and has not been previously tested.
