What this trial studies
This study evaluates a novel intervention that combines dialectical behavior therapy skills training with self-compassion and contextual-based skills for individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) who experience long-lasting symptoms. Sixty adults aged 18 to 65, who have previously undergone dialectical behavior therapy skills training, will be randomly assigned to receive this new intervention or treatment as usual over a 12-week period. Participants will be assessed before and after the intervention, as well as at a 3-month follow-up, focusing on well-being indicators and clinical variables.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 with a primary diagnosis of borderline personality disorder who have previously participated in dialectical behavior therapy skills training.
Not a fit: Patients with life-threatening behaviors, PTSD, or other severe psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the quality of life and psychosocial adjustment for patients with long-lasting symptoms of BPD.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on dialectical behavior therapy, this specific combination of skills training is novel and has not been extensively tested.
