What this trial studies

This study aims to develop and evaluate novel cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) methods to assess heart function in both healthy individuals and patients with suspected or known heart disease. Participants will undergo physiological stress tests using advanced CMR imaging techniques, including four-dimensional flow CMR, to better understand cardiac function and flow dynamics. The study will involve five clinical subgroups, focusing on conditions such as heart failure and coronary artery disease, and will assess the impact of preload on cardiac performance. Follow-up scans will be conducted to evaluate the therapeutic implications of these new metrics.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy volunteers and patients aged 20 to 80 with suspected or known heart disease.

Not a fit: Patients with severe heart failure requiring IV therapy or significant valvular heart disease may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic methods for heart disease, enabling more effective treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using advanced imaging techniques for cardiac assessment, suggesting potential success for this novel approach.
