What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of two different neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Participants will receive either gemcitabine plus S-1 or gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel before undergoing elective pancreatectomy. The goal is to determine which chemotherapy combination yields better outcomes in terms of tumor response and surgical results. The study is designed as a Phase 2 and Phase 3 interventional trial to assess the comparative efficacy of these treatment approaches.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma who are eligible for elective pancreatectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of previous cancer surgery, significant weight loss, distant metastases, or severely impaired organ function may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could identify a more effective neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimen, potentially improving surgical outcomes and survival rates for pancreatic cancer patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored neoadjuvant chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer, but the specific comparison of these two regimens is novel.
