What this trial studies
This randomized controlled trial assigns adults newly diagnosed with celiac disease to either a navigator nurse–supported mobile application or routine clinical education and follows them for six months. The app was developed using the Information–Motivation–Behavioral Skills (IMB) model and is intended to provide education, motivation, and skills training to support a gluten-free diet. A navigator nurse provides ongoing guidance through the app to personalize support and answer questions. Outcomes include validated quality-of-life questionnaires and relevant clinical data collected at baseline and follow-up.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults (18+) newly diagnosed with celiac disease who speak Turkish, own a smartphone, and can attend follow-up at the study site.
Not a fit: Patients with severe gluten hypersensitivity, those unable to use a smartphone or who do not speak Turkish, or those who withdraw consent are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the app plus nurse navigation could help patients stick to a gluten-free diet and improve their health-related quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Mobile health interventions and nurse navigation have shown promise for self-management and quality-of-life improvements in other chronic conditions and in small celiac studies, but high-quality randomized evidence in celiac disease remains limited.
