What this trial studies

The TURKAPNE study aims to create a comprehensive nationwide database to characterize patients with obstructive sleep apnea in Turkey. It will collect data on various factors including demographics, comorbidities, and polysomnographic findings from patients undergoing sleep studies. The study will also explore the associations between sleep apnea phenotypes and metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, as well as the impact of treatment on these complications. Longitudinal follow-up will assess treatment compliance and outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients undergoing sleep studies for suspected obstructive sleep apnea.

Not a fit: Patients already using positive airway pressure or with limited life expectancy due to advanced diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of sleep apnea and improve treatment strategies for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Similar observational studies have successfully established databases that improved understanding and management of sleep apnea, indicating potential for success in this approach.
