Multi-scale spatio-temporal analysis of colorectal cancer data

Multi-scale Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Research Data

Universidad de Granada · NCT07189312

What this trial studies

This observational project will collect clinical and molecular data from colorectal cancer patients undergoing planned surgery and apply computational methods to build multi-scale spatio-temporal (ST) models with statistical inference. Investigators aim to integrate high-throughput omics, including single-cell and spatial measurements, to capture tumor heterogeneity and microenvironment patterns over space and time. The framework is intended as a common solution that can be adapted to different applications rather than a single-disease tool. The project is led by Universidad de Granada with clinical collaboration at Virgen de las Nieves Hospital in Granada, Spain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults with a diagnosis of colorectal cancer who are scheduled for planned surgery, who do not have microsatellite instability, and who have no other diseases that would affect the cancer pathology are the intended participants.

Not a fit: Patients requiring urgent surgery, those with microsatellite instability, or those with significant comorbidities that affect cancer pathology are unlikely to be eligible or to benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the framework could improve understanding of tumor progression and help guide more personalized treatment or surgical planning for colorectal cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: Related single-cell and spatial omics studies have shown promise in mapping tumor biology, but a unified multi-scale spatio-temporal modeling framework of this type is relatively novel.
