Multi-center artificial intelligence-based quantitative echocardiography evaluation

A Multi-center Study on Artificial Intelligence-Based Quantitative Evaluation of Echocardiography

Observational First Hospital of China Medical University · NCT07133516

What this trial studies

This multi-center observational project compares AI-generated echocardiographic measurements with manual measurements performed by physicians of different experience levels across several hospitals. It quantifies measurement deviations and consistency for key parameters such as intracardiac diameters, chamber volumes, and functional indices, and measures analysis time to determine workflow impact. The study enrolls roughly 200 cases in each of eight diagnostic categories to test AI performance in normal and pathological hearts and to explore performance in complex cases. Results will be used to create a standardized reference system for AI echo measurement and support wider clinical adoption.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–80 with one of the specified conditions (normal heart, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, hypertensive heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and adequate image quality are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients with congenital heart disease, poor-quality echocardiographic images, or those outside the 18–80 age range are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, AI could standardize echo measurements, reduce inter-operator variability, and speed up reporting so more patients get consistent care sooner.

How similar studies have performed: Previous single-center and cohort studies have shown promising accuracy for AI-based echo measurements, but robust multi-center validation across diverse patient groups has been limited.
