What this trial studies

This project combines structural and functional MRI scans with neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive recovery in children following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Over the course of a year, patients will be monitored to understand the relationship between brain imaging results and cognitive outcomes. The study aims to identify predictive measures for functional recovery and to inform personalized rehabilitation strategies. By analyzing these factors, researchers hope to gain insights into neuroplasticity and recovery processes in the developing brain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 9-18 who have been hospitalized for TBI and have a Glasgow coma scale score between 3-15.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of neurological disorders, psychiatric conditions, or other significant health issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation strategies and better cognitive outcomes for children recovering from TBI.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing MRI and neuropsychological assessments have shown promise in understanding TBI outcomes, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
