What this trial studies
This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile instant messaging-based lifestyle intervention for preventing gestational diabetes in pregnant women at risk. The intervention includes text messaging reminders and brief advice on lifestyle modifications, alongside usual care. By leveraging digital health tools, the study seeks to provide a practical and accessible approach to managing gestational diabetes risk among ethnic Chinese women. The trial will assess the impact of this intervention on gestational weight gain and overall health outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are ethnic Chinese singleton pregnant women under 14 weeks of gestation with specific risk factors for gestational diabetes.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing diabetes or other metabolic disorders may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of gestational diabetes among at-risk pregnant women.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that mobile health interventions can be effective in lifestyle modifications, suggesting potential success for this approach.
