What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to support adolescents and young adults aged 13-25 with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in maintaining or increasing their physical activity levels through a smartphone program called NUDGE. Participants will engage with a chatbot that helps them set and review health goals, self-monitor their progress, and receive feedback on their achievements. The study will last for six months, with participants randomly assigned to either receive the NUDGE intervention or serve as a control group. Data collected will inform future efficacy trials for this approach.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents and young adults aged 13-25 with a verified diagnosis of cystic fibrosis who are medically stable and able to communicate in English.

Not a fit: Patients with significant comorbidities or cognitive impairments that limit their ability to participate in physical activity may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance physical activity levels and overall health in young individuals with cystic fibrosis.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile health interventions to promote physical activity, suggesting potential success for this approach.
