What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a mobile application designed to improve bowel preparation compliance and reduce anxiety in patients scheduled for colonoscopy. It is a prospective, single-blind randomized controlled trial involving 160 patients, divided into an experimental group using the app and a control group receiving standard instructions. Both groups will receive oral and written guidance on bowel preparation, but the app group will have additional digital support. The goal is to enhance the quality of bowel preparation, which is crucial for accurate colonoscopy results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 who are first-time colonoscopy patients with internet-enabled smartphones.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone previous colon or abdominal surgery, have active gastrointestinal bleeding, or have cognitive disorders will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved bowel preparation compliance and reduced anxiety for patients undergoing colonoscopy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using mobile applications for patient education and compliance in various medical procedures, indicating potential success for this approach.
