What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of an interactive mobile application designed to support colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The application includes modules for COVID-19 information, symptom management, peer discussions, expert consultations, and shared patient experiences. It employs a randomized controlled, single-blind design to assess its effects on patient outcomes such as quality of life, social support, anxiety levels, and symptom management. The research is conducted at the Ankara City Hospital Medical Oncology Department Outpatient Clinics.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 diagnosed with stage 0, 1, or 2 colorectal cancer who are first-time chemotherapy recipients and can effectively use an Android mobile phone.

Not a fit: Patients with metastatic colorectal cancer or those who have previously received chemotherapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this mobile application could significantly improve the quality of life and emotional well-being of colorectal cancer patients during their treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies focusing on mobile applications for patient support exist, this specific approach targeting colorectal cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic is relatively novel.
