What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and pilot-test a mobile app intervention designed specifically for informal caregivers of persons with dementia in Singapore. The study will proceed in three phases: first, creating a prototype of the app and gathering feedback from caregivers; second, conducting a pilot randomized controlled trial with 60 participants to assess the app's effectiveness over one month; and third, performing in-depth interviews to gather user feedback for future improvements. The goal is to enhance caregiver engagement and reduce depressive symptoms through a user-centered mobile solution.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are informal caregivers aged 21 or above who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents, currently caring for a person with dementia, and have a moderate level of caregiver burden.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include caregivers who are pregnant or those with vision and hearing impairments.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce caregiver burden and depressive symptoms among informal caregivers of dementia patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with mobile app interventions for caregiver support, indicating potential for success in this approach.
