What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness and security of a mobile application designed to help individuals with borderline personality disorder manage emotional crises. It involves a pragmatic randomized controlled trial with 80 participants, where 40 will receive standard treatment and 40 will use the mobile app in addition to standard treatment. The study aims to determine if the app can enhance self-management during emotional crises compared to traditional therapy alone.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-60 diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Not a fit: Patients with comorbid conditions such as mental retardation, psychotic disorders, antisocial personality disorder, or autism spectrum disorder may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could provide patients with a valuable tool for managing emotional crises more effectively.
How similar studies have performed: While mobile health interventions for mental health conditions are emerging, this specific approach for borderline personality disorder is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
