What this trial studies

This project aims to validate a mobile application designed to assess respiratory health by analyzing the sound of exhaled air recorded through a mobile microphone. The study will recruit 267 participants, both with and without respiratory diseases, from pulmonary function laboratories across 10 hospitals in Spain. By comparing the app's sensitivity in diagnosing pulmonary function disorders against traditional spirometry, the study seeks to enhance early detection and understanding of respiratory health in the general population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 80 who are scheduled for respiratory function tests and can use a mobile phone.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot perform the required procedures or answer study questionnaires may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this mobile application could lead to earlier diagnosis and better management of lung diseases, improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While mobile health applications for respiratory assessment are emerging, this specific approach using sound analysis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
