What this trial studies
This project focuses on children and adolescents suffering from chronic tic disorders, which affect 0.5-1% of this population. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile app-assisted behavioral treatment designed to provide accessible and optimal tic management. By integrating psychoeducation and behavioral strategies through the app, the study seeks to enhance treatment adherence and improve outcomes for patients. The approach is particularly beneficial for those managed in primary care settings, ensuring that effective treatment is available in their immediate environment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children and adolescents diagnosed with chronic motor or vocal tic disorders, including Tourette syndrome, who have a tic severity score above specified thresholds.
Not a fit: Patients with psychotic disorders, severe depression, suicidal ideation, severe eating disorders, or those with an IQ below 70 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the management and quality of life for children and adolescents with tic disorders.
How similar studies have performed: While mobile app-assisted treatments are gaining traction, this specific approach for tic disorders is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
