What this trial studies
This project is a single-site, two-arm, randomized controlled pilot study that investigates the effects of a 2-hour Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (ONE MORE) training on individuals living with HIV and experiencing chronic pain. The study aims to assess how this mindfulness intervention can help manage pain and improve overall well-being. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive the mindfulness training or standard care, allowing for a comparison of outcomes between the two groups.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who are HIV positive and suffer from chronic pain.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have HIV or have previously undergone mindfulness training may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could provide a non-pharmacological approach to managing chronic pain in individuals with HIV.
How similar studies have performed: While mindfulness interventions have been explored in various contexts, this specific approach for individuals with HIV and chronic pain is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
