What this trial studies
This study evaluates the impact of integrating mindfulness practices into an undergraduate biology course on students' applied mindfulness and stress regulation. It employs a two-arm design, comparing students enrolled in the Mindful Physiology course with a control group of waitlisted students who will only receive wellness resources. Data will be collected on mindfulness and stress regulation self-efficacy before and after the course, along with assessments of stress reactivity through a Trier Social Stress Test. The goal is to determine if the course can enhance students' ability to manage stress effectively.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are undergraduate students enrolled in the Mindful Physiology course during the Spring 2025 term.
Not a fit: Students who are not enrolled in the course or those who do not participate in the mindfulness practices may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve college students' mental health and stress management skills.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results in integrating mindfulness into educational settings, suggesting potential success for this approach.
