What this trial studies
This project aims to provide evidence-based non-pharmacologic pain management to rural veterans suffering from chronic pain through a telehealth intervention called RAMP. The pilot study will involve 40 rural VA patients to evaluate the feasibility of recruitment, engagement, and adherence to the program. The study will assess key metrics such as intervention fidelity and data collection methods to prepare for a larger trial. The focus is on utilizing mindfulness and complementary therapies to improve pain management outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are rural-dwelling veterans in the Southeast US who experience chronic pain and are willing to participate in remote sessions.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric or substance use disorders or those currently enrolled in similar studies may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could offer rural veterans an effective alternative to pharmacologic pain management.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in using mindfulness for pain management, indicating potential for success.
