What this trial studies
This trial evaluates the effectiveness of a group-based mind-body intervention called Move with HaRT for survivors of human trafficking in Uganda. Participants will be randomized into either the Move with HaRT intervention or Services as Usual, and their mental health outcomes, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms, will be assessed through surveys and qualitative interviews. The study also aims to explore participant characteristics that may influence the intervention's effectiveness and identify barriers to future implementation. The results could provide valuable insights for improving mental health support for this vulnerable population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are female survivors of forced labor or sex trafficking aged 14 and above.
Not a fit: Patients who are physically unable to perform basic day-to-day activities without assistance may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve mental health outcomes for survivors of human trafficking.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research on similar interventions for this specific population, the approach of using mind-body techniques has shown promise in other mental health contexts.
