What this trial studies

This observational project enrolls Danish-speaking men receiving ICSI because of reduced semen quality at Regionshospitalet Skive. Participants will complete questionnaires about psychological experience, social interaction, and quality of life, and their testosterone status will be recorded to identify possible hypogonadism. The study aims to update Danish data and compare current patient needs and healthcare interactions with findings from the past 15 years. No experimental treatments are given; the work focuses on patient-reported outcomes and hormone measurements.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Danish-speaking men undergoing ICSI due to reduced semen quality who are not sterilized and do not have a history of cancer or PESA/TESA procedures.

Not a fit: Men who have had PESA/TESA, who are sterilized, who have cancer, or who do not speak Danish are excluded and unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could improve recognition of men's needs during fertility care and lead to better counseling and consideration of testosterone screening.

How similar studies have performed: International qualitative and survey research has consistently shown men with reduced semen quality experience stigma and negative emotions, but updated Danish data and clear links between testosterone levels and quality of life are limited.
