What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effects of a yoga intervention, specifically MediYoga, on sleep quality, blood pressure, and overall quality of life in older adults aged 65 and above diagnosed with hypertension. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a yoga intervention group, which will engage in yoga exercises via an app twice a week for 10 weeks, or a control group with no intervention. The study will also explore participants' experiences and perspectives on the yoga intervention through a process evaluation. The goal is to determine whether this non-pharmacological approach can improve health outcomes in this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults aged 65 years or older who have been diagnosed with hypertension and can read and speak Danish.

Not a fit: Patients with diagnosed sleep disorders, those taking sleep medication regularly, or individuals who have recently changed their antihypertension medication may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance sleep quality and reduce blood pressure in older adults with hypertension, leading to improved overall health and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for non-pharmacological interventions like yoga in improving sleep quality and managing hypertension, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
