Longitudinal analysis of spine and vision health in adolescents in Zhejiang
Zhejiang Adolescent Spine and Vision Health Cohort: A Longitudinal Database Analysis

What this trial studies
This study investigates the prevalence of scoliosis, myopia, and other vision disorders in adolescents aged 6-18 in Zhejiang Province. It aims to track changes in spinal curvature over an 8-year period while analyzing the associations between scoliosis and vision disorders, as well as potential risk factors. The study also includes health education on scoliosis during screenings to promote early detection and intervention. By focusing on a longitudinal approach, it seeks to understand the dynamics of these conditions in a pediatric population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 6 to 17 diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis and exhibiting specific spinal curvature measurements.
Not a fit: Patients with scoliosis due to non-idiopathic causes or those with significant comorbid conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early detection and management of scoliosis and vision disorders in adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been various studies on scoliosis prevalence, this longitudinal approach focusing on both spine and vision health in adolescents is relatively novel.
