What this trial studies

This is an open prospective cohort enrolling people at the start of care in an addiction treatment unit and collecting standardized clinical interviews and questionnaires. At baseline participants complete the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), provide informed consent, return self-administered questionnaires, and undergo cognitive testing. Follow-up interviews occur at 3 months, 6 months, and then every 6 months to document clinical course and outcomes. Eligible participants are those seeking care at the inclusion center who meet DSM‑5 criteria and can understand and consent in French.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: People seeking treatment for a substance or behavioral addiction at the Bordeaux inclusion center who meet DSM‑5 criteria, can read French, and can give informed consent are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People unable to understand the assessment tools, unable to read or write French, or unable to provide informed consent are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the data could help clinicians predict long-term outcomes and tailor treatment paths for people with addictions.

How similar studies have performed: Longitudinal cohort studies using instruments like the ASI and MINI have previously yielded useful real-world insights into addiction outcomes, so the approach is established though local data are novel.
