Long-term follow-up of patients with sleep apnea and arterial stiffness
Collection of Long-Term Follow-up Medical Events in Patients Included in the Meta-analysis "Sleep Apnea Syndrome and Arterial Stiffness"
This study is checking in with people who have sleep apnea to see how their heart health and overall well-being are doing over time, especially looking at how CPAP treatment may help.

What this trial studies
This project aims to collect long-term follow-up data on patients previously included in a meta-analysis regarding sleep apnea syndrome and arterial stiffness. Through telephone interviews and structured questionnaires, the study will assess the prevalence of cardiovascular events, metabolic events, incident cancers, and mortality among these patients. Additionally, it will evaluate the impact of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on these outcomes, addressing ongoing discussions in the literature about its effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who were previously included in the meta-analysis on sleep apnea syndrome and arterial stiffness.
Not a fit: Patients who are not reachable or have passed away without identification in the hospital medical records will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the long-term health outcomes of patients with sleep apnea and inform treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While this study builds on previous research, the long-term follow-up aspect is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar studies.
