What this trial studies

The SwissPrEPared Study is a large, multicentric cohort study that aims to follow individuals requesting pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV over a period of three years. It seeks to gather epidemiological data on PrEP usage in Switzerland and monitor the occurrence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among this population. Additionally, the study will assess sexual health and well-being through a specially designed questionnaire. This observational study is nested within the broader SwissPrEPared Program.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 16 and older who are HIV negative and seeking PrEP prescription.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to follow program procedures due to language barriers or mental health issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of PrEP usage and improve sexual health outcomes for individuals at risk of HIV.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies on PrEP have shown success in improving HIV prevention strategies, indicating that this approach is supported by previous findings.
