Long-term follow-up of breast cancer patients from the BEAUTY study
Long Term Followup of Patients Enrolled in MC1137 (BEAUTY)
This study is looking at health information and samples from breast cancer patients to see how their cancer responds to treatment over time and to find better ways to fight the disease.

What this trial studies
This observational study collects health information and biological samples from patients who participated in the BEAUTY study, which aimed to understand the response of breast cancers to standard chemotherapy. The study evaluates various factors such as residual cancer burden, circulating tumor cells, and immune responses over time to identify potential mechanisms of treatment resistance. Additionally, it seeks to develop patient-derived xenograft models to test new therapies and assess changes in the genomic landscape of recurrent breast cancer. By gathering this data, the study aims to improve treatment strategies for breast cancer patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who were enrolled in the BEAUTY study and are willing to provide long-term follow-up data and samples.
Not a fit: Patients who did not participate in the BEAUTY study or withdrew consent for specimen collection will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved therapies and better understanding of treatment responses in breast cancer patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on the biological mechanisms of cancer treatment responses have shown promise, but this specific approach is novel in its comprehensive long-term follow-up.
