What this trial studies

This study investigates the feasibility and acceptability of passive music listening for patients hospitalized with acute cerebrovascular disease, such as ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. It aims to assess whether this intervention can enhance psychophysical well-being, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve overall health perception. Additionally, the study will evaluate its effects on physiological parameters, pain perception, sleep quality, and the use of sedative or antidepressant medications. Cognitive function improvements will also be assessed in participants during their hospitalization.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are native Italian speakers hospitalized with acute cerebrovascular disease who can cooperate and provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients with significant hearing loss, major psychiatric illnesses, or severe cognitive decline may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the well-being and recovery of stroke patients during hospitalization.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using music therapy in stroke recovery is gaining interest, this specific intervention's effectiveness remains to be fully established.
