What this trial studies
This trial involves forty obese women diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who also suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving metformin, dietary restrictions, and a daily walking program, while the control group will receive metformin and dietary restrictions only. The intervention lasts for eight weeks, aiming to assess the impact of lifestyle changes on their conditions. The study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness of combined lifestyle modifications in managing these interconnected health issues.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are obese women diagnosed with PCOS, experiencing obstructive sleep apnea and fatty liver.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiac or renal issues, malignancies, or those who are pregnant may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the management of PCOS, OSA, and NAFLD in affected women through effective lifestyle interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While lifestyle interventions have been explored in similar contexts, this specific combination of conditions and treatments is relatively novel.
