What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a 12-session Latin dance program on the well-being of lung transplant patients. It aims to assess improvements in balance, fear of movement, anxiety, depression, and lung function as measured by spirometry. Participants will engage in structured dance sessions designed to enhance physical and psychological health post-transplant.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are ambulatory lung transplant patients who have completed outpatient cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and have good pain control.
Not a fit: Patients with tracheostomies, those on hemodialysis, or individuals with high levels of oxygen supplementation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the quality of life and psychological well-being of lung transplant patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using Latin dance is novel, similar interventions focusing on physical activity have shown positive outcomes in improving well-being in other patient populations.
