What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the risk factors and biomarkers associated with microvascular and macrovascular diseases, as well as neuropathy in patients with diabetes. Approximately 5000 patients diagnosed with diabetes will be enrolled from the Chongqing Diabetes Centre in China for long-term follow-up. Data will be collected on various parameters including socio-demographic information, medical history, lifestyle factors, and metabolic control indicators, along with blood and urine samples to assess complications. The goal is to better understand the occurrence and development of diabetes-related complications.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with diabetes mellitus who are under 75 years of age.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have chronic diseases requiring long-term glucocorticoid therapy may not benefit from this study.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

1. Diagnosis of diabetes mellitus(based on the 1999 WHO diagnostic cretirial);
2. Age younger than 75 years old, gender is not limited;
3. Voluntary to sign on the informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria:

1. pregnant or breast-feeding women;
2. Patients with chronic disease requiring long-term glucocorticoid therapy;
3. Patients with severe infection (except for diabetic foot) or immune dysfunction.
