What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the perceptions, experiences, and responses of healthcare professionals working in intensive care units (ICUs) in Switzerland regarding incidents of workplace violence. It will utilize a questionnaire-based survey to gather data on personal backgrounds, the frequency and nature of past violence incidents, responses taken, and current prevention strategies. The study seeks to fill the knowledge gap surrounding workplace violence in ICUs, which is often underreported and understudied compared to other healthcare settings. By understanding these dynamics, the research aims to inform better safety measures and improve the work environment for ICU staff.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are consenting nurses and physicians currently working in Swiss intensive care units.
Not a fit: Patients who are not healthcare professionals or those not working in ICUs will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to enhanced safety protocols and a better working environment for healthcare professionals in ICUs.
How similar studies have performed: While workplace violence in healthcare has been studied in other settings, this specific focus on ICUs is relatively novel and underexplored.
