Investigating the Role of RPL8 Protein in Ovarian Cancer

Ruolo Delle Alterazioni Della Proteina RPL8 Nel Carcinoma Ovarico Sieroso ad Alto Grado

Observational IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna · NCT06777082

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the role of the RPL8 protein in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) by analyzing tumor tissue samples. Researchers will assess the frequency of RPL8 gene amplification and its correlation with clinical outcomes and treatment responses. The study seeks to determine if RPL8 can serve as a biomarker for risk assessment and patient stratification in therapeutic decision-making. The findings could provide new insights into the biology of HGSOC, which is often poorly understood.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma, either at onset or recurrence.

Not a fit: Patients with ovarian tumors of histological types other than serous or those with other primary tumor types may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved risk assessment and personalized treatment options for patients with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on RPL8 amplification in HGSOC is novel, similar studies investigating genetic biomarkers in ovarian cancer have shown promising results.
