What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore how central sensitization symptoms influence cognitive dysfunction in individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It seeks to determine the extent of this relationship and how cognitive complaints correlate with other clinical parameters, including disease severity. The study employs various assessments such as the Central Sensitization Inventory and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment to gather data on participants. By understanding these connections, the research hopes to shed light on the complexities of fibromyalgia and its impact on cognitive function.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-65 who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the American College of Rheumatology criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with concurrent systemic inflammatory diseases, central nervous system diseases, or other conditions that may lead to cognitive impairment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of cognitive dysfunction in fibromyalgia patients.
How similar studies have performed: While studies have explored aspects of central sensitization and cognitive dysfunction, this specific investigation into their relationship in fibromyalgia is relatively novel.
