What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between cough and hemorrhoids by assessing cough symptoms in patients presenting with hemorrhoidal disease at the Muğla Education and Research Hospital. Patients will undergo physical examinations and be evaluated for cough duration, frequency, and severity. The study will be cross-sectional and descriptive, focusing on whether cough may act as a predisposing factor for developing hemorrhoids. Data collection will occur between March 2025 and June 2025.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with hemorrhoidal disease and can communicate in Turkish.

Not a fit: Patients with other proctologic diseases, previous hemorrhoid surgeries, or conditions that may cause increased intra-abdominal pressure are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the potential role of cough in the development of hemorrhoids, leading to better prevention and management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between cough and hemorrhoids has not been extensively studied, similar investigations into intra-abdominal pressure effects have shown promising insights.
