What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the dietary supplement Synaquell in enhancing brain health among youth ice hockey players. The study will randomly assign participants to receive either Synaquell or a placebo throughout an entire season. Researchers will assess brain health using various methods, including EEG measurements, blood and saliva biomarkers, and cognitive tests. The goal is to determine if Synaquell can positively impact cognitive function in athletes engaged in contact sports.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are youth ice hockey players who are medically cleared to participate in contact sports and fluent in English.
Not a fit: Patients with allergies to the ingredients in Synaquell or the placebo, or those with certain medical conditions such as hearing issues or a history of seizures, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved cognitive health and performance in youth athletes participating in contact sports.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on cognitive supplements, the specific use of Synaquell in this context is novel and has not been extensively tested.
