What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore how individual differences affect the outcomes of mindfulness meditation, particularly focusing on its benefits and potential harms. Participants enrolled in a Mindfulness-Based Intervention will complete self-report questionnaires at various stages of the program to assess symptoms of anxiety and depression, quality of life, and wellbeing. The study will also investigate the mechanisms through which mindfulness meditation may influence mental health, as well as how factors like trauma symptoms, dissociation, and negative thinking may impact these effects.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults enrolled in a mindfulness-based intervention who are interested in understanding the effects of mindfulness on their mental health.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have access to the internet or lack proficiency in Dutch or English may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify which individuals benefit from mindfulness meditation and which may experience adverse effects, leading to more personalized mental health interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown varying effects of mindfulness meditation, but this specific focus on individual differences and potential harms is relatively novel.
