What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the pathological features, gene mutations, and clinical characteristics of unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA) in Asian patients. It seeks to clarify the relationship between these factors and surgical outcomes, building on previous findings that indicated a need for more comprehensive prospective studies. The research will involve analyzing tissue specimens through histopathology to identify different pathological types and their associated clinical phenotypes. The study is led by a multi-center expert team and aims to standardize the pathological classification of UPA.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Asian patients aged 18-80 who have been diagnosed with unilateral primary aldosteronism and have undergone total adrenal resection.
Not a fit: Patients with bilateral disease or those who have undergone partial adrenalectomy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with unilateral primary aldosteronism.
How similar studies have performed: While previous studies have explored aspects of unilateral primary aldosteronism, this study's focus on the Asian population and its prospective design may provide novel insights.
